The Mendel family gave a us a wonderful experience in the their barrel tasting room. John, Luan, and Clayton all have a passion for what they make there. The different Ryes, Bourbons and a surprise extra blend were all "Devilishly" delicious and smooth.
A must stop on any trip to the Mammoth area.

A Must in Mammoth!!! A must stop for anyone visiting the Mammoth area! Family owned and operated, the Devils Creek bourbon and rum are meticulously distilled and bottled on site. We took a tour of the distillery and then went to the tasting room where John walked us through the tasting. I can honestly say I now prefer and appreciate their spirits to other premiere brands!!! The entire Mendel family was warm, hospitable, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. A visit to Devils Creek is close to a trip to heaven - I’ll be back !!!

Wonderful Family Owned Experience A number of friends and I were visiting Mammoth for the weekend and stopped in for a tasting. Clayton knows his business and his product, and was welcoming to our tasting group of 6. Great time, check it out.

High Spirits in the High Sierra We highly recommend a visit to Devils Creek Distillery for a great and informative experience in a very welcoming environment. We were met by John Mendel, one of the owners. While we were tasting the rum, bourbon and rye whiskey and being entertained by John, we got a chance to meet Clayton his son, and John's wife Luan. After the tasting we got a personal tour of both the small distillery and the barrel room. The barrel room convinces you that they take no shortcuts and have a lot of pride in producing correctly-aged spirits. The distillery is definitely a unique business dedicated to perfecting their own artisan spirits. Of course, a bottle of their great rye whiskey made its way to the car. A wonderful way to complete a visit to Mammoth Lakes. We'll be back for another bottle or two!

Amazing spot, owners are so welcoming Stumbled across this gem on a poor weather day. We come every time we are here now. The CA Rye is phenomenal, bourbon is great. Taste it all. The owners are so welcoming and fun to hang out with. Great spot.

Spirits of an Angel in Devils Creek I had the pleasure of joining friends for an intimate tasting hosted by John on a frosty afternoon during our President's Day ski week. John provided a tour of the whole operation. His passion for the craft and extensive knowledge shined. We settled in to taste their rum, bourbon, and rye whiskey. The rum was very nice with just the right heat. I also enjoyed the bourbon, but the Rye was the winner. We each took a bottle home and the Rye Manhattans flowed that evening back at the cabin. I highly recommend seeking Devil's Creek out if you're a fan of aged spirits and are looking for something to warm you up after a day on the slopes.

Drink with the Devil but chat with some really nice folks Want to be warmly welcomed into a Mom and Pop Whiskey Distillery? Look no further because this is it! The proprietors are very passionate about their spirits making. The tour is quaint but educational. With family dogs roaming the premises, you get the impression that the distillery is their "home away from home". Drop in for a tasting and stay for the informative tour.

A True Mammoth Gem I absolutely loved everything about Devil’s Creek Distillery. The family is incredible - right down to Bailey the dog. Learned so much about spirits from mom, Luanne. Everything was delicious. Had to bring a bottle home. Can’t wait to go back next year! Highly recommend!

Whiskey tasting: Fun social activity after skiing or biking at Mammoth What a discovery! Searching for something to do after skiing in Mammoth, we brought the brood for a tour and tasting at Devils Creek Distillery. It's family run, only a couple minutes from the lodges and represented a chance to quickly learn how whiskey and rum are made-- from grain to barrel to bottle. It's not a bar, just a tasting room right off Highway 395, so no worries about drinking and driving. And the whiskey is really good.

Impressive local distillery My husband and I carved out some alone time after skiing by visiting this local distillery. This 100% local place is dog friendly and has great ambiance. John and his family have produced some really special spirits. Small batches and attention to detail equals huge flavor and amazing whiskeys. The Rye and Kentucky style Bourbon are incredible. They also have a tasty Rum which is smooth and natural, no additives or colors. If you enjoy genuine, artisan spirits made high in the mountains, you MUST visit Devils Creek! All served in a very cool and cozy tasting room. Good vibe all around.

Devils Creek hits the mark! Visited the distillery June 16, 2021. I enjoy whiskey but am always a bit leery of rookie labels that charge too much and often miss the mark. NOT the case at Devils Creek. First off John and Luan were genuinely welcoming and fun to talk with. John poured a tasting of the rum, bourbon and rye. I'm a rum novice so I honestly can't give you much detail. It was quite tasty though and my wife purchased a bottle of it.
The bourbon gave a nice Kentucky hug and further sips gave me all the flavors my pallet enjoys in a fine whiskey. The Rye .oh my!! We all looked at each other after the first two sips. "I'll take two bottles please". Very well done sir.
Get your selves to this distillery when you're in the area. It's in a small commercial park off the beaten path .a good thing I'd say. Look forward to visiting Devils Creek every time we're in Mammoth!!!
