At Devils Creek Distillery, we are passionate about barrel aged spirits. In a process that should not be rushed, spirits aging in oak barrels undergo an almost magical transformation that is worth the wait for those patient few.

Starting in 2019, our patience began to payoff as the early release bottlings of our California Bourbon Whiskey and California Rye Whiskey were well reviewed by My Bourbon Journey Then in the midst of everything that was 2020, our California Rye Whiskey was featured on the Whiskey Vault’s Rare Whiskey Friday with Daniel and Rex. More recently, The Bourbon Van dropped a surprise review of our Bourbon and VinePair named our California Straight Bourbon Whiskey THE California Bourbon to take home!

A True Mammoth Gem I absolutely loved everything about Devil’s Creek Distillery. The family is incredible - right down to Bailey the dog. Learned so much about spirits from mom, Luanne. Everything was delicious. Had to bring a bottle home. Can’t wait to go back next year! Highly recommend!

Drink with the Devil but chat with some really nice folks Want to be warmly welcomed into a Mom and Pop Whiskey Distillery? Look no further because this is it! The proprietors are very passionate about their spirits making. The tour is quaint but educational. With family dogs roaming the premises, you get the impression that the distillery is their "home away from home". Drop in for a tasting and stay for the informative tour.

Great experience! Had a great tasting and tour over Memorial Day weekend - we loved hearing the history of the company, distilling process and even tasting the grains! John was very knowledgeable and taught us quite a bit about the process!

Don't be scared off by the limited hours; you can give them a call and arrange a time for just yourself and a friend (midweek included)! You have no excuse not to pay them a visit. The "menu" isn't large but every single liquor they produce is crafted with intentionality and passion. Though one may assume that a distillery is dog-friendly, note that their particular setup sadly does not allow them to welcome four-legged friends (they absolutely would if they could).

Devils Creek hits the mark! Visited the distillery June 16, 2021. I enjoy whiskey but am always a bit leery of rookie labels that charge too much and often miss the mark. NOT the case at Devils Creek. First off John and Luan were genuinely welcoming and fun to talk with. John poured a tasting of the rum, bourbon and rye. I'm a rum novice so I honestly can't give you much detail. It was quite tasty though and my wife purchased a bottle of it.
The bourbon gave a nice Kentucky hug and further sips gave me all the flavors my pallet enjoys in a fine whiskey. The Rye .oh my!! We all looked at each other after the first two sips. "I'll take two bottles please". Very well done sir.
Get your selves to this distillery when you're in the area. It's in a small commercial park off the beaten path .a good thing I'd say. Look forward to visiting Devils Creek every time we're in Mammoth!!!

Family Run Distillery We visited here based on TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. We spent a very pleasant hour or so with John (one of the owners) tasting high-proof Rum, Bourbon and Rye. All were excellent, but we were particularly impressed with the Rum. We took a tour of the modestly sized but clean and organized distillery and shared some family stories. Well worth a visit.

Super great up and coming distillery in town! Enjoyed a flight of each of their spirits with their own unique flavors and profiles (also extremely reasonable price for a tasting at $10 for 3). Love that it's a family business and everyone was super friendly. Head distiller was extremely knowledgeable and even gave us a tour of the production facility. Would highly recommend a stop in!

High Spirits in the High Sierra We highly recommend a visit to Devils Creek Distillery for a great and informative experience in a very welcoming environment. We were met by John Mendel, one of the owners. While we were tasting the rum, bourbon and rye whiskey and being entertained by John, we got a chance to meet Clayton his son, and John's wife Luan. After the tasting we got a personal tour of both the small distillery and the barrel room. The barrel room convinces you that they take no shortcuts and have a lot of pride in producing correctly-aged spirits. The distillery is definitely a unique business dedicated to perfecting their own artisan spirits. Of course, a bottle of their great rye whiskey made its way to the car. A wonderful way to complete a visit to Mammoth Lakes. We'll be back for another bottle or two!

10 out of 5. After trying a flight, the Rye was my favorite. It's softer than usual but so much more flavor. Bought two bottles to go home with. Getting a tour of the facility and seeing the barrels, and seeing product in process. Priceless. Support local not because it's just local, but because this distillery is amazing. Great family, great atmosphere, phenomenal service and commitment.

Devil's Creek Distillery Fantastic place. Terrific whiskies and the people are just the nicest, most friendly and communicative. Our visit to Devil's Creek was one of the highlights of our trip. I thought we'd end up staying the entire day, we had so much fun!!
